Situated in the delightful conservation village of Ashprington, three miles South of the market town of Totnes, The Durant Arms, established in 1725, is a country inn and a family run free-house with three en-suite guest bedrooms.
Since December 2013 The Durant Arms has been owned and run by The Woollacott family and is first and foremost a proper village pub. We serve a selection of real ales, ciders, and wines, with hearty home-cooked food using fresh ingredients from local suppliers.
Log-burners ensure a warm welcome to you on chilly days, come in with your muddy boots, dogs and bikes (cycle rack outside). Our new locally crafted solid oak bar was opened in March 2014, second-phase improvements to the end dining room, with a new double-sided log burner, were completed in Spring 2016.
Dogs are very welcome in the pub and sometimes they outnumber people! Our own pub dog is called Tess, she is a rather lovely Portuguese Water Dog, who can be found in front of the woodburner most days during winter.
We welcome well behaved children until 9pm, our chefs can serve smaller portions from our menu where possible. We have one highchair and baby changing facilities in the Ladies toilet.
We are conveniently located on the South Devon national cycle route No. 28 and The Dart Valley scenic walking trail from Totnes. Which makes us a great stop-off for lunch. We serve sandwiches, light bites and things more substantial plus freshly ground Devon-roast coffee.
